Our Mission: To ensure the continued protection of Department of Defense programs, operations, and activities by providing security preparedness education, assistance, and advice concerning the wide variety of operational activities associated with arms control implementation.

About DTIRP

Authority

The authority for the DTIRP outreach program is provided by Department of Defense Instruction (USDI) 5205.10, Department of Defense Treaty Inspection Readiness Program (DTIRP). This Directive states the purpose of the DTIRP outreach program as being to ensure the continued protection of Department of Defense (DoD) programs, operations, and activities by providing security preparedness education, assistance, and advice concerning the wide range of operational activities associated with implementing arms control treaties and agreements.

In accordance with DoD policy guidance, security countermeasures developed to protect national security interests in an arms control implementation environment, should be cost-effective and should be integrated into a facility’s existing security and counterintelligence programs.

USDI 5205.10 also designates the Director, Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), as DoD Lead Agent for implementing DTIRP and as Chair of the DTIRP Coordination Group (DCG).
