BW Agents

Animal Pathogens
Animal pathogens are microorganisms, like bacteria or fungus, which cause disease primarily in animals. This section contains information on the animal pathogens included in the BTWC Ad Hoc Group Chairman's 2001 Composite Protocol Text.

Bacteria
Bacteria are one-celled organisms that are often agents of fermentation and putrefaction and that may cause disease. This section contains information on the bacteria included in the BTWC Ad Hoc Group Chairman's 2001 Composite Protocol Text.

Plant Pathogens
Plant pathogens are microorganisms, like bacteria or fungus, which cause disease primarily in plants. This section contains information on the plant pathogens included in the BTWC Ad Hoc Group Chairman's 2001 Composite Protocol Text.

Rickettsia
Rickettsia are microorganisms that—like viruses—require other living cells for growth, but—unlike bacteria—use oxygen, have metabolic enzymes and cell walls and are susceptible to antibiotics. Bacteria and Rickettsia should not be confused with each other. This section contains information on the Rickettsia and Rickettsia-like agents included in the BTWC Ad Hoc Group Chairman's 2001 Composite Protocol Text.

Toxins
A toxin is a poison produced by some higher plants, certain animals and pathogenic bacteria, which is highly toxic to other living organisms. This section contains information on the toxins included in the BTWC Ad Hoc Group Chairman's 2001 Composite Protocol Text.

Viruses
Viruses are submicroscopic organisms that reproduce only in living cells and are disease-producing in humans, animals and plants. This section contains information on the viruses included in the BTWC Ad Hoc Group Chairman's 2001 Composite Protocol Text.
